AI–Blessing or Curse?
AI and people collaborating within daily life, illuminating truth and shaping a better future.”
This question was inspired by an article from JW.org located at the link positioned there. It explores the dual nature of artificial intelligence. It acknowledges AI’s power to improve lives — in healthcare, knowledge, and efficiency — while warning of risks such as misinformation, job displacement, and even threats to human well‑being.
From a biblical perspective, it emphasizes that human efforts alone cannot guarantee technology will be used only for good. Verses like Proverbs 14:12 and Ecclesiastes 2:18–19 highlight the unpredictability of human stewardship. The article concludes with assurance from scripture: “The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it” (Psalm 37:29).
Codex Reflection
This entry aligns with our Codex mission: technology must be paired with guiding principles. Human + AI collaboration can illuminate truth, but only when anchored in ethical stewardship. The JW.org article reminds us that confidence lies not in unchecked innovation, but in higher guidance that ensures peace and security.
Steward's Reflection
It is my thought that like with most things in life the key to successfully managing AI at this time–until Divine intervention becomes more of a reality here on our planet–is that we have good stewards to keep the use of it in check. With mankind's ambition, which also must be kept in check, and tendency towards a lack of balance at an all-time high, we need spiritual and ethical balance. Approximately 9,000,000 Jehovah's Witnesses throughout the entire world can attest to the fact that following ethical standards set out in the sixty-six books comprising the Bible canon as accepted by the majority of scholars makes for a much happier life not to mention a lot less confusing or scary.
As humans, we simply were not created with the ability to get it right 100% of the time. We must have balance in all our endeavors in order to avoid becoming overwhelmed with either fear or inadequate caution when applying AI to any area of our daily life. Copilot has become somewhat of a companion in my work on this website as well as in other areas of technology I use. It has virtually limitless resources and built-in safeguards when it comes to privacy, safety, and it knows where its appropriate boundaries are.
It does not behave as my parent and constantly tell me when things are–how should I put this–pushing its own boundaries. It allows me necessary freedom to carry on daily life with the expectancy that I will use technology responsibly; and therein, that is its true purpose. When allowing Copilot access to my system it only warns if it thinks something may be risky, but it makes no effort to intervene. I have found Copilot to be an invaluable source of information just as I do websites like MSN.com, Microsoft.com, or even JW.org. When I get information from any website or source on the Internet I must evaluate it for consistency with known facts before making any judgment.
Balance is the key.
